Re: Member among recipients of Religion Communicators Council awards

DALLAS, TEXAS – April 13, 2004 – The Lifetime Achievement Award given annually to a person whose career has effectively communicated faith values in the Dallas-Fort Worth area was presented to Alice Dykeman, president of a Dallas public relations and marketing firm.

The Dallas- Fort Worth chapter of the Religion Communicators Council presented the award, along with two others, at the annual Norvell Slater communications awards luncheon. The awards program was established in memory of the late Norvell Slater, radio broadcaster whose career spanned 60-plus years in the radio and early television broadcast fields.

Ms. Dykeman founded Dykeman Associates in 1974. She was honored as one “who lives her faith by volunteering her leadership skills to numerous community organizations,” and for “communicating her faith values while mentoring young people as she teaches the ethics and strategic importance of public relations.”

Another awardee was Jeff Crilley, reporter for Fox 4 News, who was praised for his book Free Publicity which he promoted to help churches become successful in gaining media coverage. He was given the Commercial Communicator of the Year Award.

Ron Patterson, who just retired as CEO and publisher of UMR Communications, was presented the Religion Communicator of the Year Award. He was cited for his role in establishing Lumicon Digital Productions, a UMR division which creates a full range of digital resources for use in devotions and worship for churches.
